Apple released the latest OS 3.0 for the iphone2G, 3G and the new iphone 3GS which includes MMS. Unfortunately MMS was not activated for the iPhone2G… until now. ActivateMMS2G is a little activation app that allows MMS on your iPhone2G with firmware 3.0. You have to however have a jailbroken iPhone (another reason why jailbreaking your iPhone is the best thing you could do). The patch will NOT automatically find vodacom or MTN’s MMS settings but we will find out the correct settings and be sure to let you know.
Step One
Press to launch Cydia from your SpringBoard
Step Two
Press to select the Sections tab at the bottom of the screen
Step Three
Press to select Messaging from the list of Categories
Step Four
Press to select ActivateMMS2G from the list of Packages
Step Five
Press the Install button at the top right of the screen
Step Six
Press the Confirm button at the top right to begin installation.
Step Seven
Once installation has completed successfully press the large Reboot Device button.
Step Eight
You iPhone will now be automatically restarted. Once the reboot has completed tap to open the messages application from the Springboard.
Notice you now have MMS capabilities. Please be aware that your cellular provider may charge an additional fee for using MMS. Please contact them before send an MMS to verify charges.
Thanks go out to geniusan the author of this patch!
To input your networks settings please navigate to Settings - General - Network – Cellular Data Network Settings

iClarified has posted a bunch of really good tutorials on how to unlock and jailbreak the new iPhone 3.0 OS. As of writing this, there is still no unlock for the iPhone 3G, unless you got your iphone through Vodacom. If you bought your iPhone 3G overseas then you will have to wait for the unlock software (ULTRASNOW) to be released – which should be any day now. Below is a list of tutorials from iClarified.

Those of you who have updated to iPhone OS 3.0 (jailbroken) might have noticed that your jailbroken apps (Apps installed outside from App Store) have stopped working. Even if you have tried reinstalling them they wont work because these apps require a patched version of MobileInstallation file on your iPhone. Here’s what you have to do to patch the mobileinstallation file on your iPhone, although some have reported that the Mobileinstallation beta file works. I have personally used this method below and can confirm that it works.
Method:
1. Go to “Cydia”.
2. Click on “Manage” tab on the bottom.
3. Now click on “Sources” as seen in the screenshot below:
4. Click on “Edit” and then on “Add”. You will be prompted to enter a url source as seen in the screenshot below. Type “http://cydia.hackulo.us” and click on “Add Source”. Cydia will now automatically update your sources by following a series of automated steps.
5. After installation is completed. Search for “AppSync” in Cydia and install this application. This app will automatically patch your mobileinstallation file.
You should be now able to install all of your jailbroken apps on iPhone OS 3.0.

iPhone Dev Team has done it. If you are on iPhone 3G or 2G, you can now jailbreak OS 3.0 and therefore upgrade to 3.0 OS. You will need a Mac to get this done, since iPhoneDevTeam has only released the PwnageTool and the windows version of PwnageTool, quickPWN is still under development. QuickPWN should go live any time soon, keep checking blog.iphone-dev.org.
PwnageTool can only jailbreak iPhone 3G and 2G version, but it cannot unlock it. The unlock tool Ultrasn0w is still under development and should get released in a week or two. So if you want to unlock your current iPhone with 3.0 OS, dont follow this procedure yet. Wait for Ultrasn0w tool be released. Keep checking blog.iphone-dev.org.
You SHOULD NOT use this PwnageTool release if you are using an iPhone 3G with yellowsn0w.
As per iPhone Dev Team, please read these rules before going ahead with PwnageTool:
GOLDEN RULE: If you are using a 3G iPhone with yellowsn0w and rely on yellowsn0w to obtain cellular service, then you should NOT use PwnageTool right now. UltraSn0w is not included with this release and therefore your baseband will be locked and unable to use an operator other than the official one it was bought for. UltraSn0w will be release via APT (cydia and icy) soon. If you have an original iPhone (1st generation) then 3.0 unlock works with this PwnageToolrelease.
Yellowsn0w in its current form will NOT work with the baseband version that is present in the 3.0 update, you will need Ultrasn0w, which will be released sometime soon, Ultrasn0w will work with all iPhone 3G models (but not 3GS), even ones that were previously unlockable, Ultrasn0w (when available) will be released via APT (this means you can get it via Cydia or Icy).
Please read all parts of this post before downloading and using these tools.
Read items 1, 2 and 3 again and again.
At the bottom of this post are the bittorrent files for the 3.0 capable version ofPwnageTool.

By default MMS has not been setup on the iPhone OS 3.0 for Vodacom. To do this follow these steps:
Go to Settings -> General -> Network -> Cellular Data Network -> MMS Fill in the following details:
APN : mms.vodacom.net
MMSC : mmsc.vodacom4me.co.za
MMS Proxy : 196.006.128.013:8080
You may need to reset your Cellular Data APN to iphone.vodacom.za
Once this has been done, reboot your phone
Then go to Messages -> New Message.
You will now see a camera icon on the left had side of the message box. Click this, and choose your MMS object. You can also use MMS for voice recordings
NOTE: Its seems that Vodacon (I mean Vodacom) has blocked MMS until next release. Also there is NO MMS FOR 2G iPHONE.

update 4:
This is an important note for those looking to update their 2G iPhone to the 3.0 firmware without losing their activation and unlock.
If you click the Update button in iTunes to install the 3.0 firmware you will not loose your unlock. (2G iPhones ONLY).
HOWEVER, if you are using the 2G iPhone on an unofficial carrier you may loose your activation. This means that will your network will be detected but you will not be able to use your iPhone.
You will loose your activation if you used QuickPwn to jailbreak your iPhone. If you used PwnageTool you will not.
If you are super excited about iPhone 3.0 and wish to update immediately, either make sure you jailbroke with PwnageTool or rejailbreak using PwnageTool and then do the update.
Otherwise wait for a little bit and the iPhone Dev-Team will release new PwnageTool and QuickPwn utilities shortly.
update 3:
It seems that if you have a iPhone 2G then there is no need to jailbreak/unlock if your phone has previously been jailbroken, but it has also been reported that the update breaks the jailbreak…. will keep you posted.
update 2:
We will be posting information and tutorials as soon as the jailbreak and unlock for the new firmware is released.

According to the Merriam-Webster’s Medical Dictionary, the word Oleophobic means “having or relating to a lack of strong affinity for oils“. Oh and its pronounced \-ˈfō-bik\. Well, for the rest of us this pretty much means that the new iPhone 3G S screen is coated with \-ˈfō-bik\ and is easier to clean than its predecessors. According to Apple, If your iPhone has an oleophobic coating on the screen (iPhone 3G S only), simply wipe your iPhone’s screen with a soft, lint-free cloth to remove oil left by your hands and face. Cool. My 2G iPhone gets pretty greased up within a day of good usage, but I must say it’s really easy to clean. I also just use a lint-free cloth without the use of window cleaners. I suppose the new screen doesn’t get so oily anyway. By the way, i don’t have any of those plastic covers over my screen – I hate them.
What’s your iPhone coated with?

Hi folks. Ive been away for a while on some business but I’m back now. One of the most anticipated games for the iPhone has been released. Yes, The Sims 3. I’ve managed to get myself a copy to check out although I have never been a fan of The Sims games. This one I tell you is gripping. I installed it and ended up playing for a full two hours. Not even Need for Speed has kept me hooked to my iPhone for such a long time. Anyway, I also have a treat for you – yes i have found the download link.
You create your own character using a few different hairstyles, skin tones, and clothing and shoe options — nothing too advanced, there are perhaps 4-5 options for each category — and then decide on a basic personality type: Jack of All Trades, Nice Guy, Jerk, Sleaze, Power Seeker, and Maniac. I called my character KRAMER cos he’s abit on the crazy side.
You set about making a little life for yourself. You’ll have to get a job to make money, you need to buy food items from the market, and you’ll have to keep an eye on your basic personal needs: hunger, energy, fun, social, hygiene, bladder, and the like. You can make extra money by completing tasks for various other Sims. Some are pretty weird; like this one guy who was prepared to pay me $50 do kick over another guys trashbin. Loads of fun.
So head over and download the game. Remember to read the TERMS and CONDITIONS of my site.
