Firmwares, basebands, Boot Loaders, Unlocking…. the list goes on when it comes to jailbreaking and unlocking your iPhone. The worst think nowadays is what software to use, what firmware version do you have and wether a jailbreak is even possible. Its become so complicated with the cat and mouse game with Apple and the dev teams who continuously have to learn and find out new ways to bring us the easiest ways to freedom. If you have a iPhone 2G, 3G or 3GS then the process is sometimes always different.
But there is one site that makes it so much easier to get started. Welcome jailbreakmatrix.com. Jailbreak Matrix offers just that, a easy guide that shows you that if you have a certain iPhone with a certain firmware then the correct tools to use and procedures to jailbreak your iPhone.

Guides, Latest News Guides, how to, lock, tips and tricks

I never thought I’d need this until I discovered that my 2 year old daughter knows hows to operate my iPhone. At 2 years old she knows how to slide the slider with her little fingers, open Photos and browse the photos, which of course I dont mind but occassionally she goes into PHONE and manages to make calls and this is where I draw the line. I’ve now had to resort to putting a Passcode Lock on my phone. She still tries though. Here is a tutorial on how to enable the Passcode Lock. There is a nice feature as well in that after 10 wrongs attempts then all your data will be erased, which is ONLY useful if your iPhone gets stolen.
How to enable a Passcode Lock.
- Goto Settings —-> General —–> Passcode Lock
- Punch in a 4 digit number
- DO NOT enable “Erase Data”
Does your child know how to operate your iPhone?

Applications, Guides, Latest News activatemms2g
Apple released the latest OS 3.0 for the iphone2G, 3G and the new iphone 3GS which includes MMS. Unfortunately MMS was not activated for the iPhone2G… until now. ActivateMMS2G is a little activation app that allows MMS on your iPhone2G with firmware 3.0. You have to however have a jailbroken iPhone (another reason why jailbreaking your iPhone is the best thing you could do). The patch will NOT automatically find vodacom or MTN’s MMS settings but we will find out the correct settings and be sure to let you know.
Step One
Press to launch Cydia from your SpringBoard

Step Two
Press to select the Sections tab at the bottom of the screen

Step Three
Press to select Messaging from the list of Categories

Step Four
Press to select ActivateMMS2G from the list of Packages

Step Five
Press the Install button at the top right of the screen

Step Six
Press the Confirm button at the top right to begin installation.

Step Seven
Once installation has completed successfully press the large Reboot Device button.

Step Eight
You iPhone will now be automatically restarted. Once the reboot has completed tap to open the messages application from the Springboard.

Notice you now have MMS capabilities. Please be aware that your cellular provider may charge an additional fee for using MMS. Please contact them before send an MMS to verify charges.

Thanks go out to geniusan the author of this patch!
To input your networks settings please navigate to Settings - General - Network – Cellular Data Network Settings

Guides, Latest News
iClarified has posted a bunch of really good tutorials on how to unlock and jailbreak the new iPhone 3.0 OS. As of writing this, there is still no unlock for the iPhone 3G, unless you got your iphone through Vodacom. If you bought your iPhone 3G overseas then you will have to wait for the unlock software (ULTRASNOW) to be released – which should be any day now. Below is a list of tutorials from iClarified.

Guides, Latest News mobileinstallation
Those of you who have updated to iPhone OS 3.0 (jailbroken) might have noticed that your jailbroken apps (Apps installed outside from App Store) have stopped working. Even if you have tried reinstalling them they wont work because these apps require a patched version of MobileInstallation file on your iPhone. Here’s what you have to do to patch the mobileinstallation file on your iPhone, although some have reported that the Mobileinstallation beta file works. I have personally used this method below and can confirm that it works.
Method:
1. Go to “Cydia”.
2. Click on “Manage” tab on the bottom.
3. Now click on “Sources” as seen in the screenshot below:

4. Click on “Edit” and then on “Add”. You will be prompted to enter a url source as seen in the screenshot below. Type “http://cydia.hackulo.us” and click on “Add Source”. Cydia will now automatically update your sources by following a series of automated steps.

5. After installation is completed. Search for “AppSync” in Cydia and install this application. This app will automatically patch your mobileinstallation file.

You should be now able to install all of your jailbroken apps on iPhone OS 3.0.

Guides, Latest News MMS

By default MMS has not been setup on the iPhone OS 3.0 for Vodacom. To do this follow these steps:
Go to Settings -> General -> Network -> Cellular Data Network -> MMS
Fill in the following details:
APN : mms.vodacom.net
MMSC : mmsc.vodacom4me.co.za
MMS Proxy : 196.006.128.013:8080
You may need to reset your Cellular Data APN to iphone.vodacom.za
Once this has been done, reboot your phone
Then go to Messages -> New Message.
You will now see a camera icon on the left had side of the message box. Click this, and choose your MMS object. You can also use MMS for voice recordings
NOTE: Its seems that Vodacon (I mean Vodacom) has blocked MMS until next release. Also there is NO MMS FOR 2G iPHONE.

Those of us who use a Mac with their iPhone probably grab photos using iPhoto. It’s an obvious choice since your Mac already comes with it. However, if you have a lot of photos, you may not necessarily want to fire up iPhoto to import one or two pictures from your iPhone.
Instead of iPhoto, try using Image Capture. It’s light-weight, straight forward, and it’s included on your Mac. Best of all, you can simply drag a photo out of Image Capture right onto your desktop. You can even delete photos on your iPhone. Now that’s handy!

Guides, Latest News secret codes
We found a list iof secret codes off a indian blog that will help with some troubleshooting. I have tested all the codes on my iPhone. Bare in mind that I am using a iPhone2G so I am not sure if it all works on the iPhon3G. Dialing *3001#123456#* did not work. It tried to make a call instead and I got the BEEP BEEP BEEP sound. Also what did not work was the last three numbers in the list. Give it a try and let us know if you have the same problems I did. Do you know of any other secret codes that you would like to share with us. We will continue to hunt for more, if there are, and keep you updated.
- Dialing *3001#123456#* and pressing “Call” starts a field test on your iPhone with results that can be used, for example, to gauge signal strength.
- *#06# Displays your IMEI.
- *#21# and tap Call. Setting interrogation for call forwards - Discover the settings for your call forwarding. You’ll see whether you have voice, data, fax, sms, sync, async, packet access, and pad access call forwarding enabled or disabled.
- *#30# and tap Call. Calling line presentation check - This displays whether you have enabled or disabled the presentation of the calling line, presumably the number of the party placing the call.
- *#76# and tap Call. Check whether the connected line presentation is enabled or not - State whether the connected line presentation is enabled or disabled. Presumably similar to the calling line presentation.
- *#43# and tap Call. Determine if call waiting is enabled - Displays call waiting status for voice, data, fax, sms, sync data, async data, packet access and pad access. Each item is either enabled or disabled.
- *#61# and tap Call. Check the number for unanswered calls - Show the number for voice call forwarding when a call is unanswered. Also show the options for data, fax, sms, sync, async, packet access and pad access.
- *#62# and tap Call. Check the number for call forwarding if no service is available -Just like the previous, except for no-service rather than no-answer situations.
- *#67# and tap Call. Check the number for call forwarding when the iPhone is busy - And again, but for when the iPhone is busy.
- *#33# and tap Call. Check for call control bars - Check all the usual suspects (voice, data, fax, sms, etc) to see whether barring is enabled or disabled for outgoing.
- *777# and tap Call. Account balance for prepaid iPhone.
- *225# and tap Call. Bill Balance. (Postpaid only)
- *646# and tap Call. Check minutes. (Postpaid only)
